Details: This land is private so it may not be open for casual collecting. Here is the information that is found from the BLM website: "Barth Mine hematite, apatite, magnetite. 8 miles south of Carlin on Highway 278. Turn right toward Palisade, follow Humboldt River to Barth pit~ about 6 miles from paved road. Private land."

Directions: Here are the directions from the BLM website: "8 miles south of Carlin on Highway 278. Turn right toward Palisade, follow Humboldt River to Barth pit~ about 6 miles from paved road." This was difficult to follow on Google Earth since where to turn right from Hwy 278 is not too clear. GPS coordinates below are for a spot on "Palisade Ranch Drive", which follows the Humboldt River at one part. This might not be the exact spot, but it should be close.
