Details: Minnesota staurolite crystals can be found on the muddy banks of the Mississippi river. Go to this website for more information. On another now-defunct website it said: "General description: Commonly called fairy crosses, staurolite can be found on the banks of the muddy Mississippi below the dam at Royalton.

Directions: Detailed directions to east and west bank access are also found on this website. I no longer have the direct instructions without the link, but I did mark the spot as EXACT so maybe the GPS was straightforward.
