Description:
eBay
Offered here is a beautiful, large, double, and most importantly legally collected Palaeocarpinus sp. staminate inflorescences from the Sentinel Butte Formation from Morton County, North Dakota, Paleocene in age. The double staminate measures 2 1/4” long and displays beautifully on the orange matrix. The matrix measures 6” x 2 1/8”. As you can see from the pictures, the fruit is nicely articulated and shows wonderful detail. This beautiful piece was found about 25 years ago and was legally collected. My father was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota and knew the land owner. We were responsible for getting multiple new leaves to David Dilcher, Steve Manchester, and Peter Crane for their publication on the Almont site. Illegal collecting has flooded the market with leaves. The other thing is the leaves, seeds, etc. you see for sale have been highlighted with white shoe polish. My are natural. The site where this was found is getting harder and harder to collect and is posted “illegal to collect” but poachers still poach. If you have purchased multiple items, please do not send payment until I send an invoice. If you pay before I send you an invoice, shipping could cost you more and I will ship in separate shipments/packages. Shipping cost is the responsibility of the buyer. If you plan on buying multiple “buy it now items” please add all of them to your cart and make one purchase and request an invoice. Thank you.
