Precious black, crystal, jelly, fire, conk, and other opal types.  The site, along with adjoining mines totaling 206 acres, is a  privately owned and operated unpatented group of mining claims.  Members of the general public are allowed to visit the claims and to see the famous 30 ft. petrified log which is a landmark fossil belonging to the United States.  No rockhounding or collecting  is allowed on the claims, but taking photographs is OK.  The areas outside of the valid claims have also produced both common and precious opal as well as petrified wood.  Check with the Humboldt County Recorder in Winnemucca and BLM for a listing of active mining claims in the area before collecting.more information and directions can be found at this website: www.dominionopalmines.com.
